Treasure Wines Spring update- 2018

Spring is in the air in Napa.  The weather has been in the 60’s but we are looking forward to sunny 70+ degree days in the coming weeks.  Easter should be the perfect day to celebrate with family and friends.

Our 2014 Treasure Napa Cabernet Sauvignon has been bottled and will be ready for release in September.  Stay tuned for more details.

Our 2016 Treasure vintage has been aging in our new French oak barrels.  This was another great year in Napa where the terroirs of Napa will be nicely delineated.  Structurally, the wine is medium bodied and is showing very soft tannins.  Our 2016 will be bottled in February, 2019.

There is still time to stock up for Easter!

Steakhouse Rubbed Grilled Ribeye

As the executive chef of the Jean Banchet Award-nominated best new restaurant Two, Tom Van Lente showcases Midwestern ingredients at their prime. For him it’s all about seasonality, sustainability, and making everything from scratch – no walk-in cooler, can-opener, or shortcuts in his kitchen. The chef sources the best products available from local farms, allowing them to shine on the plate by cooking them with respect and not overpowering their flavors, a mantra held true by his entire team.

After tasting Treasure Wines 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Tom identified his classic take on a grilled ribeye to pair with the wine.  Click here to view this great recipe.

Introducing our 2013 Sauvignon Blanc

We are excited to announce the release of our Treasure 2013 Sauvignon Blanc to our loyal customers.  In keeping with our vision to produce premium wines, we are confident you will find this a great summer wine.  Our 2013 Sauvignon Blanc is bursting with ripe fresh fruit and flowers – an expression of ginger, lime peel and white flowers.   It’s crisp and enjoyable for the upcoming summer days.  Treasure Sauvignon Blanc is best enjoyed young but will retain its freshness and gain complexity with age.

We have produced only 50 cases of this exceptional wine.  We hope you have the opportunity to enjoy it at your family barbeques and or just relaxing on the backyard patio.

Take advantage of our special offer during the month of May – check the box for free shipping on all sauvignon blanc orders. Order our 2013 Sauvignon Blanc today!

Thirsty? There's a Global Wine Shortage

There’s just not enough wine in the world, says Morgan Stanley, and the problem is only going to get worse. The industry is experiencing an “undersupply of nearly 300 million cases” a year, according to a report from Morgan Stanley Research.  Australia-based analysts Tom Kierath and Crystal Wang say the shortage comes despite the fact that there are one million wine producers globally, making 2.8 billion cases each year. About half of that comes from Europe. But that’s not enough to keep up with worldwide demand. Global production fell by more than 5% last year – to its lowest level since the 1960s – primarily due to bad weather in France and Argentina. Production in Europe alone dropped 10% in 2012, the report said. That same year, worldwide consumption rose by 1%.  The French consume the most wine, followed by Americans, and then the Chinese. Wine has become particularly popular in China, as the economy booms and the standard of living there rises. China is also producing more wine of its own, said the report.

America consumes 12% of the world’s wine but produces just 8%. And the U.S. is only getting thirstier ; consumption rose 2% last year. The U.S. wine making industry is also growing. The number of American wineries has “expanded dramatically” in the last 15 years, according to the report. But most of them are “boutique” operators rather than major producers, so they’re not driving any real growth in supply. And there is little reason to believe that global wine production will pick up any time soon.

Morgan Stanley said that output from newer producers like the U.S., Argentina, Chile, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa has already peaked.

This is an article from CNN Money published October 29, 2013.

2013 Wine News

We are very excited about Napa grapes for 2013. While the yields won’t be as high this year as last year, the warm, dry weather is producing another year of high quality grapes. We are continuing to buy some of the best grapes in Napa for our 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon. With these high quality grapes, we will continue to produce our premium Treasure Cabernet.

And, we are excited to announce that we will produce a Treasure Sauvignon Blanc in 2013. We have had many requests from customers whether we will consider producing a white wine. In alignment with our mission/vision of producing only premium wines, we have been able to secure some premier grapes to produce a Sauvignon Blanc. Our first production of Treasure Sauvignon Blanc will be available in May 2013.

We are convinced that the extra time in the barrels will exceed your expectations when opened in next year. We’ll keep you updated on developments.

Happy Memorial Day

As we celebrate this holiday weekend, we remember the men and women who have served in our US Armed Forces.  My father, who turned 90 this year, served in WWII and feels very lucky to have lived a long life.  He still tells stories today about his days in the war and the angel on his shoulder. Here’s to you Dad!

Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Happy Mother's Day

As you gather together to celebrate Mother’s Day, I hope you “treasure” the special memories with  some Treasure Wine.  Here’s a special quote from a famous mother, Audrey Hepburn, ” The most important thing is to enjoy your life – to be happy – it’s all that matters.”  I hope your weekend is filled with the joys that life has to offer.
