2014 Treasure Cabernet Sauvignon
Our winemaker is committed to finding the best grapes, which he obtained from Gleason Family Vineyards at the base of Howell Mountain in St. Helena. Napa Valley’s harvest was unusually early this year. While experiencing ongoing drought conditions, the summer weather was perfect for grape development. Quality is excellent. The wine is darker and more concentrated than 2012 with some earlier appeal than that of the 2013’s.
This wine fermented in tank for 14 days under native yeast. It matured for 28 months in French Oak barrels (70% new) with minimal racking or handling. Upon bottling, it was unfined and unfiltered. The goal throughout our winemaking is to nurture and protect the wine as much as possible, to retain the essential expression of the vineyard site, vintage, and terroir. It should continue to age gracefully and develop complexity far beyond its release.
