Our winemaker committed to finding some of the best grapes for this wine, which he obtained from Beckstoffer, Georges III vineyard, Clone 6 & 7. Textbook conditions were what the 2012 vintage is known for, including ideal spring bud break and a lengthy stretch of warm days and cool nights. This season saw a vintage of perfectly ripe grapes, allowing winemakers to pick only the best fruit.
This wine was barrel and tank fermented for 14-20 days under native yeast. It was matured for 36 months in French Oak barrels (70% new). Upon bottling, it was unfined and unfiltered. The goal throughout was to nurture and protect as much as possible, to retain as much essential flavors as the vineyard site, vintage, and terroir had to offer.
